Born out of Xerox in 1978, EMD was first tasked with inventing what became the MemoryWriter®. With that project being a success by any standard, the staff at EMD quickly became known as the “Chicago 7”, as immortalized in the book “Xerox: The American Samurai”.
EMD was incorporated as an independent corporation in 1992, and has since served clients in nearly every major industry, including: office products, consumer products, industrial units, presentation models, quality assurance, commercial products, medical devices, safety, and manufacturing.
After years of participating behind the scenes and under the radar, in 2006 EMD emerged as a leader in all aspects of innovation including:
• The “Fuzzy Front End” of innovation
• Technical reduction to practice
• Intellectual property strategy and creation
• Organizational design & development
• Traditional product development
• Open innovation partnerships
